Help voice chat not working on LAPTOP

Help, I don't know if this topic has already been brought up for laptop before, but each time I find something it's either not detailed enough or for other platforms.

I have an issue where I can speak ingame, but I can't hear my teammates, though I can see their icons reacting to voice chat.

I can still make calls, but it feels off not to be able to hear them.
It happens only on my laptop, works very well on my Home computer.

    Hi!

Thanks for reporting this. I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles hearing teammates through voice chat. Please note that Marathon is not officially supported on laptops and may not run smoothly, so your current configuration may be why voice chat isn't working properly. That said, we can still try and troubleshoot to hopefully alleviate the issue. As a first step, if you haven't already, could you please try the steps suggested in our Audio and Voice Troubleshooting page to resolve this?

If the steps above don't resolve the issue, please let me know here.

    Thanks!

  • Of course I understand.
I tried everything on the troubleshooting page and it didn't fix the problem.

  • Hi again! Thank you for following up. I'm sorry to hear the above steps didn't work.

A few things we'd like to check:

    • Are you using a Bluetooth/wireless headset?
    • Is your headset single- or dual-channel? Since Marathon uses two separate audio channels (one for voice audio and one for game audio), some players have found that using a headset that has two channels fixes this issue.
    • Were you able to test this out on a different headset?

Another thing you may want to try is to check your MTU settings, as described in our FAQ article:

    • Players should leave their network MTU setting on "Automatic" (the default) for the best compatibility with voice chat and online features.
    • If a player has manually configured their MTU, it should be set to at least 1,419 bytes. A value of 1,500 (the standard default on most networks) is recommended.
    • Common causes of reduced MTU include VPN usage, IPv4/IPv6 tunneling, or manual network configuration on the console.

Please let me know here how it goes!
