Voice Chat Problem

PC, Steam, Windows 11

I followed the guide here https://help.marathonthegame.com/hc/en-us/articles/46853995013652-Audio-Voice-Troubleshooting and my Headset is functional both in other games and in terms of settings.

I can speak and be heard, but not hear my teammates. I *can* hear them if I set the output to my external speakers, but cannot hear them clearly through my headset.

This is really handicapping my ability to do more progressive play, so any help is appreciated.

    Hi!

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues hearing your teammates through voice chat.

    A few things to check:

    1. Are you using a Bluetooth/wireless headset?
    2. Is your headset single- or dual-channel? Since Marathon uses two separate audio channels (one for voice audio and one for game audio), some players have found that using a headset that has two channels fixes this issue.
    3. Were you able to test this out on a different headset?

Another thing you may want to try is to check your MTU settings, as described in our FAQ article:

    • Players should leave their network MTU setting on "Automatic" (the default) for the best compatibility with voice chat and online features.
    • If a player has manually configured their MTU, it should be set to at least 1,419 bytes. A value of 1,500 (the standard default on most networks) is recommended.
    • Common causes of reduced MTU include VPN usage, IPv4/IPv6 tunneling, or manual network configuration on the console.

Please let me know here how it goes!
