Issue Report: Marathon Game Performance and Connectivity Problems
I am writing to report significant technical issues encountered while attempting to run Marathon. Despite using a capable system (NVIDIA RTX 4050 GPU, Intel i5-13450HX CPU, and 24GB RAM with installation on an SSD), the game is currently not functioning as expected.
Upon launching the game, it exhibits severe stuttering and performance instability from the initial startup phase. In some instances, the game struggles to fully load, with noticeable lag occurring even before reaching the main menu. These performance issues make the game difficult to use and negatively impact the overall user experience.
In addition to performance problems, I have also encountered the “CHICKEN” error, which indicates connectivity issues with the game’s servers. This error appears even after attempting standard troubleshooting steps such as clearing the download cache via Steam, restarting the router, and ensuring a stable internet connection.
The following troubleshooting steps were attempted:

Clearing Steam download cache

Restarting the modem/router (power cycling)

Verifying game files through Steam

Ensuring the dedicated GPU (RTX 4050) is used

Closing background applications

Running the game with updated system drivers

Installing the game on an SSD

Checking network stability
Despite these efforts, the issues persist. The combination of severe stuttering during launch and recurring connectivity errors prevents the game from being properly accessed or played.
Given that the system meets and exceeds the expected requirements, the issue may be related to game optimization, server-side problems, or compatibility issues with current configurations. I recommend further investigation and optimization from the development side.
This report is submitted in hopes of identifying and resolving these issues in future updates by the development team at Bungie.
