Platform Storage Requirements

* Roughly 2x the game size (downloaded files + unpacked space) is needed to preload and decrypt.

** Marathon Install Size may vary based on languages installed, size shown is maximum size possible at time of release. Hard drive storage requirements are subject to increase. May require additional storage for set-up, features and updates, including downloading mandatory in-game updates to continue playing.

Vital Information

• Storage Requirement Changes: Many smaller Marathon Updates and Hotfixes do not cause a significant increase to Marathon's file size or required storage space. the table above will only be updated for major Marathon Updates or content releases.
• Storage Size Estimates: The above-listed File Size and Storage Space Needed Requirements are not exact numbers.
• Storage Space Needed for Download: Some platforms require additional storage space during the download and install process.
• Installing Marathon: For more information and the recommended steps on installing Marathon updates, please see our Installing, Reinstalling, and Updating Marathon guide.
• Not Enough Space: If players do not have sufficient device storage space, they may encounter issues when attempting to download or install Marathon content. Players that do not have enough storage space may need to delete or uninstall some files to reach the minimum storage requirements.

PC System Requirements

Important Note:  While we will do our best to make sure Marathon is available on the widest variety of PC hardware, we do not officially support Marathon on laptop configurations. Laptops with specifications that match or exceed our Minimum System Requirements may be able to play Marathon.

Vital Information and Troubleshooting

• Third-Party Applications: Some features of third-party applications may not be compatible with Marathon on PC.
• Steam Support: Players who encounter an issue with their Steam account or the Steam app should visit Steam Support.
• OS and Driver Updates: For the best experience, we recommend that players ensure that they have accepted all updates to their OS and drivers. If players believe they are encountering issues with Marathon on PC, they should ensure that their PC software is up to date.
• Clearing Steam Download Cache: Players who encounter issues with Steam or Marathon should also try clearing their Steam download cache. For instructions, please see Valve’s Clear Download Cache knowledge base article.
• Windows Defender: Marathon players on PC may encounter an issue where Windows Defender incorrectly detects specific Marathon files as infected with malware when performing a scan. Players who encounter this issue should update their virus definitions.

• CVARS Troubleshooting: When encountering configuration issues in Marathon, it is recommended that players delete their existing CVARS.xml file. This file can be found in: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bungie\Marathon\prefs

  PLEASE NOTE

  When relaunched, Marathon will generate a fresh CVARS.xml file. This will revert all custom player settings in Marathon to their defaults.

• Marathon PC Support Forums: Players who encounter issues while playing Marathon on PC that are not resolved after troubleshooting should report them to the Help forums.
