Marathon PC and Third-Party Application Feature Compatibility

To help ensure that every player will have a fair shot at fun and glory in Marathon on PC, we resist attempts by third-party applications to insert code into the game client. This may result in incompatibility between Marathon PC and the features of common third-party applications.

Account Bans and Restrictions

Running third-party PC applications that are incompatible with Marathon on PC may impact game performance or prevent the game from running properly. Bungie will not ban or restrict players for using common third-party applications such as Discord, XSplit, OBS, RTSS, or other apps as outlined below. However, Bungie reserves the right to ban or restrict players who are using third-party applications to violate our Code of Conduct or our License Agreement that governs Destiny, as outlined in the Bungie Game Account Ban and Restrictions Policies. Permanent account bans and temporary restrictions will be implemented manually and through automated processes.

Listed below are example application features that may not be compatible with Marathon. These include, but are not limited to, the examples outlined below.

Streaming and Game Capture

The following are examples of streaming application features that may not be compatible with Marathon.

OBS and XSplit Windows 10 Gaming Features

The Game Capture mode of applications such as OBS and XSplit is not supported. The following methods are supported for capturing video of Marathon on PC:

  • To capture while playing in Fullscreen:
    • NVIDIA Shadowplay and AMD ReLive are supported.
  • To capture while playing in Windowed Mode (including Borderless Fullscreen):
    • OBS and XSplit Window Capture mode are supported.

PLEASE NOTE!

Other recording applications, such as Dxtory, Razer Cortex, and Fraps, have similar restrictions to those outlined above.

Overlays

Some features from third-party applications that rely on the use of screen overlays are generally not compatible with Marathon. The following are examples of features that may not be compatible with Marathon on PC.

Voice Communications Hardware Monitoring
“Who’s talking” and visual notification features, such as those provided by Discord or Mumble, are not compatible with Marathon. Notification features may still be provided through the third-party application.

Other

The above-listed application features are examples of features that are known to be incompatible with Marathon on PC. The examples listed on this page are not all-encompassing, and players may encounter issues with the features of other applications that rely on code being inserted into the game client. Players are to run these applications' features at their discretion while running Marathon.

PLEASE NOTE!

Third-party applications that repeatedly attempt to insert code into the Marathon PC client may potentially impact game performance. If players experience decreased performance when running certain applications alongside Marathon, their first step should be to ensure that any features of third-party applications that could potentially be attempting to insert code into Marathon are disabled. If disabling such features does not resolve the performance impact, players may wish to try closing the third-party application.
