Marathon deluxe edition problems

I bought the game on 6/2 before the description was changed both Sony and marathon development team said I’m eligible for the standard edition license and I still haven’t received it. Sony customer support has been a nightmare and haven’t fixed anything. My PSN is -MidnightMayor and I have proof of the purchase of marathon deluxe edition(game) on 6/2 and I have the twitter post from development team and message from PlayStation stating you are getting the standard license free of charge can we please get this fixed already.

  • Bungie has awnsered all other posts except ones asking about the deluxe edition mistake. Please post if youre granted the game.

  • It seems at least some people who purchased on 6/2 have received the game, but I was just told that I missed the cutoff window ( I purchased on 6/3). They haven't let anyone know what the actual cutoff time is though, and Playstation support already confirmed that I was eligible to receive the base game. 

    You should definitely receive it though if you purchased on 6/2.

  • I just wish the fix had been more clear. I purchased on the 9th only reading the product contents. They sent me the post on X that was made on the 5th. Any purchase before that should 100% be honored. Send this man his game!

  • Yeah, even after they added the updated description, it was still very misleading. It still clearly stated that the base game, 6 runner shells, etc. were included. Putting a disclaimer in the actual gameplay description is kinda shady, and led to many people buying the deluxe edition ( but really just the deluxe upgrade). 

    I feel that they should honor all the purchases prior to when they properly updated the store ( They added the Deluxe Upgrade instead of only the Deluxe Edition), but at the very least, they should honor all the purchases prior to their statement on June 5th. 

    It would have been very helpful and led to a lot less confusion, and less support tickets for them if they would have included the cutoff date/time in their announcement. No one actually knows the exact time. 

    But Playstation Support confirmed that I purchased prior to the store listing being updated and that I was eligible to receive the base game at no additional cost. So not sure why Marathon Support is denying it and claiming I missed the window. 

    The whole situation and follow up has just been a disaster. I feel like Playstation is at fault too though, and should be held responsible for their pricing error in their store. 

    I just really don't want to spend much more time on this. But also, I now own $14 worth of deluxe skins and stuff that I can't even access. If the game was still on sale I would just buy it, but I would feel like a complete sucker paying full price after all of this.

  • Yeah, thats similar to my post from the other day. I dont expect anything from them because they had "made it clear" but ill be checking posts here and fight for the people who have legitimate claim to the game.

  • For sure. Well I appreciate it. I wish they were just more clear also, could have avoided wasting a lot of time trying to get answers. I thought my account was just overlooked, but it seems they are only issuing the game to people who purchased on 6/2. 

    I've asked them what the cutoff date/time was, but don't really expect an answer.

  • Just an FYI to everyone that sees this, if you purchesed during the trial week and still havent received the game, you wont be getting it. Both playstation support and bungie support flat out said that anyone and everyone who has been affected has been properly compensated. Its a blatant lie, but I pushed back for almost 2 full weeks to poth playstation support and bungie support and both said to go to the other until finally bungie said I wasnt eligible to receive a game code becuase my purchase was HOURS after that tweet from one of the developers. Ive talked to other people in the same boat, I know a single person that got a copy of the game and they purchased it on the 2nd. Seams like anyone that purchesed on the 3rd or after are SOL. Bungie is currently experiencing massive layoffs aswell as a number of other issues so this is probably the end of the situation. They successfully swept it under the rug. I say good to the layoffs. Ill be happy to see the studio close after how they've destroyed any good will with their comunity and fired almost all their real talent years ago. Fuck bungie. Sorry to anyone like myself who's money is just lost in the void now. PLEASE protest with your wallet and boycott this shitty company so they go under sooner rather than later and cant fuck over more people. Bungie has been dead for years, dont feel bad or grasp onto nostalgia. Get angry. The state of the industry is a joke and we all just go along with it. If your seeing this, spent money on the game and dont have access. Make your voice heard, plaster your experience everywhere and make sure to let others know. This is wrong, and theres no longer anything we can do about this situation but warn others.

  • I submitted a ticket on Bungie.com and reached out on twitter @BNGServerStatus and @MarathonTheGame. Playstation has been useless.   The main reason I bought the game because of the steep discount.  I read the terms and conditions multiple times just to make sure I understood correctly.   • What date did you purchase Gen-X-Ray? 

    I purchased the Deluxe Edition on June 3rd, and I know for a fact that when I added it to my cart, the description had not been updated yet. But I just received a response to my support ticket, and they claim that I missed the cutoff window and don't qualify to receive the base game. 

    If you purchased on June 2nd, you definitely should receive the game. I thought they updated the description on June 4th, but Marathon support hasn't ever said what the actual cutoff date/time is.

  • My transaction history includes me purchasing Marathon for free on June 2nd, 2026 as part of the trial.  I purchased Marathon Deluxe Edition on June 4th before the disclaimer was added. On June 4th I received a refund for Marathon for ($0.00).  I submitted a ticket and it's status changed to Solved, even though clearly it wasn't.  Apparently In Bungie’s ticketing system (which runs on Zendesk), "Solved" does not always mean an agent fixed your issue. Because of the sheer volume of players affected by this $14.99 Deluxe Edition mess, Bungie is using a standard support tactic: they are mass-closing individual tickets because the fix is being handled by an automated database script, not a human customer service representative.

  • Yeah it seems like I've just received a generic response as well, and they marked my ticket as solved. But it did say that I was outside the window and do not qualify to receive the base game at no additional cost. Even though I purchased on June 3rd, and have had Playstation support confirm that I am eligible. I'm not sure what to do at this point, it just feels like there isn't anything else I can do. 

    My receipt clearly shows Marathon Deluxe Edition, but now that they added a separate listing for the Marathon Deluxe Upgrade, that's the product that it shows that I own. 

    It's definitely a mess. I wish you the best. 

    At this stage, I just wish I could buy the game at the $27 sale price and move on. But after all this, I just can't bring myself to buy it at full price, especially when I should be getting it at no additional cost. 

    I can't even get ahold of Playstation support either. I've contacted them a few times already, but now it just says they are having a large volume of requests and to try again later.

    I purchased on 6/3 and they claimed that the disclaimer was already present in the description, so they didn't issue me the game. I was tempted to just buy it, but didn't out of principle. I'll probably end up buying it next time it goes on sale though, as that was my original plan. I would have been happy to buy it when it was on sale, but didn't because I thought I was going to be receiving it at no additional cost. 

    At this point, I feel like I should wait for Season 3 anyways.

  • Nice, I'm happy for you! But damn, I purchased it a full day before you, and they claimed that I wasn't eligible. Even though Sony support confirmed that I was eligible to receive the game at no additional cost. 

    I'm going to open another support ticket and give this one final shot.

  • Okay awesome, I just submitted it! They closed my first ticket and marked it as solved, so I hope they will review my case with the updated support ticket I just opened. 

    Glad to hear all you guys received it. Did you all have an open support ticket?

  • Yes, my first support ticket was shot down so I begrudgingly submitted another with even more detail. That second one has been open since june 17th I think it was.

    I submitted another support ticket, but they already marked it "Solved" but didn't even respond. I'm hoping for the best, but idk. If all of you guys received it, and I also purchased on the 3rd, then I would think they would send it to me too. I'd love to get back into the game.

  • I also made a formal complaint with BBB and tweeted the issue to @PlayStation @PlayStationCA @Bungie @MarathonTheGame. I think that may have escalated my ticket.

    They keep marking my support ticket as solved, but haven't responded with a message. I feel like it's getting automatically marked as solved.
