W:8:00002EE2 - XBOX Error code when trying to login - March 21, 2026

In an effort to keep this problem at the top of the support page, I'm posting again and will be posting every day until this problem is resolved because I know others are likely having this problem with their Xbox connection. I've been playing since launch with no problems, but as of March 20th, I received this error code when I tried to log in. 

W:8:00002EE2

I've tried everything that has been suggested in the basic and advanced guides for network troubleshooting, and nothing works. This has led me to believe this is a server-side issue, especially since the error indicates "marathon servers are not available". Please fix this problem or give me my money back.

    Thanks for reaching out! Please try restarting the game, and if you're still experiencing this network error, please refer to our Network Troubleshooting Guide for troubleshooting.

    If you've already exhausted all steps in our Network Troubleshooting Guide, please try re-installing the game. Afterward, unfortunately the only step left would be to contact your internet service provider for more specialized troubleshooting.

  • I need a more substantive response than being told to restart the game or follow the same troubleshooting guide I’ve already completed multiple times.

    Let me clearly outline the situation so this can be escalated appropriately:

    1. The game functioned without issue from launch until March 20. No changes were made to my network, router configuration, or Xbox settings prior to the issue beginning.
    2. Since the issue began, I have:
      • Restarted the game and console multiple times
      • Fully reinstalled the game
      • Tested on both Xbox Series X and PS5 (same error behavior)
      • Enabled UPnP as recommended
      • Disabled UPnP and configured manual port forwarding per your advanced guide
      • Verified Open NAT status
    3. All other online games function normally across both platforms on the same network.

    Given these facts, this does not present as a local network configuration issue. It strongly suggests either:

    • a server-side issue, or
    • a service-specific connectivity or authentication problem affecting Marathon

    Additionally, the error explicitly states: “Marathon servers are not available,” which further supports that conclusion.

    At this point, asking me to contact my ISP is not a reasonable next step without evidence that the issue is network-path specific. If there is a known issue, degraded service, or platform-specific problem (Xbox in particular), that should be acknowledged.

    Please escalate this case internally and provide:

    • Confirmation of whether this error code is being tracked
    • Any known incidents affecting Xbox connectivity or login services
    • Specific diagnostics (if any) that would differentiate a client-side issue from a server-side issue
