Movement Bug (Keyboard)

When I load into a match, I can sometimes move normally until what appears to be when I hit sprint (shift), where I then can only move in THE SMALLEST of increments. I'm unsure, but I believe it happens with control, alt, caps lock, and tab as well. I saw a post about overlays, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting computer, resetting keybinds. None of that fixed the issue. I have not tried playing with controller, as I very much want to play mouse and keyboard. I've been enjoying the game for about 24 hours, but now I'm at a "stand still" due to this problem.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Thanks for the detailed report and for already trying the common troubleshooting steps.

Could you try the following to see if it helps resolve the issue:

    1. Change your keybinds away from modifier keys

      • In Settings → Keyboard/Mouse, rebind Sprint from Shift to a non‑modifier key (for example G or Mouse Button 4), and remove any binds that use Caps Lock.

      • Also check that Ctrl / Alt / Tab aren’t bound as secondary movement keys.

      • Restart the game after changing these binds and see if the issue still occurs when you avoid pressing Shift/Caps entirely.

    2. Turn off Windows keyboard accessibility features

      • In Windows, go to Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard and temporarily disable:

        • Sticky Keys

        • Toggle Keys

        • Filter Keys

      • Reboot the PC and test again.

    3. Temporarily disable keyboard / macro software

      • In addition to game overlays you’ve already tried, close any keyboard or macro utilities (Razer Synapse, Logitech G Hub, Corsair iCUE, SteelSeries GG, AutoHotkey, etc.) and restart the game.

      • If possible, also try a different keyboard just to see if the behavior changes.

    4. Try a different display mode

      • Switch between Fullscreen / Borderless / Windowed in the video settings and see if the problem still occurs.

If this doesn't help, please reply with the following details:

    • Platform (e.g., Steam)

    • Country or region

    • Keyboard make and model (and whether it uses any vendor software)

    • Windows version and language / keyboard layout (e.g., Windows 11, EN‑US, DE‑DE, etc.)

    • Whether Shift or Caps Lock are bound to anything else in game

    • A step‑by‑step of exactly what you do to trigger the movement issue like:

      1. Launch Marathon

      2. Load into a run

      3. Move normally with WASD

      4. Press <exact key(s)> (e.g., Shift while holding W)

      5. After this, movement is limited to tiny increments only

  • At this point, I have tried everything short of going into BIOS and nothing has worked. I do not have this problem with any other game, and I have exhausted every avenue in regards to fixing the issue on my end. Controller seems to work fine, so considering I do very much want to continue playing Marathon, I suppose that will suffice. However, I would very much like to see this problem resolved, as I do prefer the mouse and keyboard inputs.
