Game freezes system on loading screen — extensive troubleshooting already done

Hi,

I'm experiencing a freeze on the loading screen that also causes my entire PC to hard-freeze for ~10 seconds when force-closing the game via Task Manager.

System specs:

  • Laptop: MACHENIKE S15C
  • CPU: Intel Alder Lake-P (12th gen)
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti (hybrid graphics with Intel Iris Xe)
  • OS: Windows 11

Troubleshooting already attempted (none resolved the issue):

  • Disabled all overlays (Steam, Discord, GeForce)
  • Changed in-game language
  • Disabled pre-order pack
  • Changed default audio output device
  • Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game
  • Manually ran Uninstall_BattlEye.bat as admin and let it reinstall
  • Verified game file integrity multiple times
  • Checked Hardware-enforced Stack Protection setting (not present/not applicable on this device)
  • Booted in Clean Boot (all third-party services and startup items disabled) — issue persisted
  • Manually forced the game to use the dedicated NVIDIA GPU instead of Intel integrated graphics
  • Fully removed and reinstalled the NVIDIA GPU driver (both old and new driver versions — same result on both)

Given that the issue persists even in a clean boot environment and across two different GPU driver versions, it doesn't seem to be caused by third-party software or driver version. The system-wide freeze when killing the process via Task Manager suggests a low-level (kernel/driver) conflict rather than an application crash.

Please let me know what additional information would help investigate this further.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

While it may be possible to play on certain laptop configurations, we do not officially support them per our Marathon Storage and System Requirements guide.

Because this is an unsupported platform, we’re only able to suggest basic troubleshooting steps here and can’t provide more advanced troubleshooting.

That being said, here are some steps to try:

    • Update your GPU drivers to the latest version from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel.
    • Make sure the game is using the laptop’s dedicated GPU rather than integrated graphics.
    • Set Windows and your GPU control panel to High Performance mode for Marathon.
    • Disable overlays and background tools such as Steam Overlay, Discord Overlay, GeForce Experience overlay, MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, and similar software.
    • Remove any overclock, undervolt, or third-party performance tuning settings and test again at default settings.
    • Fully restart the PC after driver updates, reinstalling, or verifying files.
    • Make sure Windows is fully updated.
  • Bungie Support Hello! Has this become unsupported now? The game used to work for me before.

  • Hello again,

We understand the confusion, especially since the game worked for you previously. The system requirements have not changed since launch.

Since laptops aren’t officially supported, we’re unable to provide advanced troubleshooting for laptop-specific issues. Laptops that meet or exceed the minimum requirements may still run the game, but performance and compatibility can vary.
