Currency Economy and Unlocking Store Items
I wanted to talk about a bigger design issue with the game that I feel would make it much clearer to unlock items in the armory without changing the progression rate for players very much. Currently the flow is you level up to unlock the ability to unlock an item from the store, only then to have to pay for those items (after an initial freebie). In-between all of those steps is a large time sink of just collecting items from various maps (some of them already extremely difficult to find). Then you have to wait to be high enough level to unlock the items for sale even if you have the inventory to purchase it.
My suggestion is to remove armory unlocks from the faction upgrades and make them some type of separate unlock in the armory itself that don’t require faction levels. They’re available from level 1.
Hear me out.
If I’m not worried about waiting to level up then I can decide to work towards a harder item to unlock rather than spending it on early unlocks. This does a few things, it makes bigger unlocks available for lower level players and closes that high level gap a little more, cleans up the required additional currency of faction experience required to unlock armory items, and makes the separation of character upgrades and armory unlocks cleaner.
I understand that you would have to fill out those upgrade trees a little more but that shouldn’t be too difficult. Make the unlocks a bit smaller. Plus I’m sure you have more stuff planned that you could use to fill in there.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas for Marathon.
While we appreciate your feedback, the best place to share it is on the Marathon Discord rather than our Help Forums. If you haven't already done so, please share your feedback and suggestions there.

Thanks a lot!
I don’t have discord and don’t plan on getting it. Is there no other way to provide input?
