Marathon won't Launch on Steam (just purchased) - ATTENTION screen on Signing In

Just bought Marathon on Steam for PC, installed and got the red ATTENTION screen while trying to sign in.

Restarted Steam, restarted computer - no avail. Might your latest update 1.0.0.4 be the issue?

Entire system up to date. All professional soft and games work perfectly on high end workstation with specs:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX 64-Cores, 128 GB RAM, RTX 3090, SSD 4TB, Win 10 Pro

Please advise?

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out! Please ensure your Windows and drivers are fully up to date. If they are, please try installing the game on another disk (if possible) to rule out potential hardware issues.

  • Checked again - all drivers and Windows up to date. Re-installed game, no hardware issues. Very good internet connection, other games no issues. No avail. Remains showing the ATTENTION screen with the same message.

  • If you have a VPN or other service running which may interfere with networking, please be sure to disable them before launching. If you're still experiencing the issue, please refer to our Network Troubleshooting Guide for troubleshooting your connection to our servers.

If you continue experiencing this error after trying our network troubleshooting, unfortunately the only immediate option is to contact your internet service provider for further assistance.

  • Sorry to say but the Network Troubleshooting Guide is a labyrinth and not user friendly. VPN is not active and I checked that no other service is interfering with my networking. All other software and games are just working fine with the internet. So I'm afraid it's somewhere at your end like the message says - Marathon servers are not available. I also visited help.bungie.net and search for the W: 8: 0000277A code in different ways but nothing directs me to that error code. Unfortunately there is only a certain amount of time I can dedicate to go through troubleshooting a €39.99,- game's malfunctioning despite the beautiful art direction I wanted to explore, so I requested a refund and got my money back. Maybe I purchase and try again when the community communicates that there are no signing in, crashing or other issues anymore. I don't understand that these sort of errors are not tested prior to a release. Also, is this helpdesk AI automated because I read in other posts similar responses that seem rather superficially.
