Mouse Input Freezing/Skipping from High Polling

  • Bungie Account Name - Willy#1990,
  • Platform - Steam,
  • Description of Issue -I think there are two other reports for this bug but I also just wanted to add that when using anything above 1000 Hz polling rate for my mouse the input skips almost like all the polled inputs are queued and then released all at once causing it to skip.
  • Rough Date and Time of issue - All server slam.,
  • Repro steps - Set polling rate of mouse to higher than 1000Hz (Especially prevalent at 8000 Hz polling).

    Hi there.

    Thank you for reaching out.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your mouse input. We are aware of some third-party utilities that can introduce this problem. Try closing any screen sharing, screen capture, or screen measurement utilities.

You can also try the following workaround to see if that helps resolve the issue:

    • If you are streaming while playing, could you try streaming the whole screen and not the Marathon game window specifically.
    • If you are not streaming the game while playing, or if the above doesn't work, try disabling the Steam Overlay by clicking Settings → In Game and then toggling off "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".
  • I second this. I had to lower my mouse polling rate to 1000hz. When set to 8000hz...the input becomes jumpy/laggy

  • Also having this issue.

    • Description of Issue - Input lag/skipping when mouse polling rate set to anything above 1000hz
    • Rough Date and Time of issue - Live Release - Always reproducible
    • Repro steps - I have two Pulsar X2H mice, bought at the same time, both paired with a 4k sensor dongle. One, I set to the max 4k, the other is set to 1k. The 4k hz mouse has lagging and skipping, which is made worse by moving the mouse faster. The 1k mouse has no issues. Also should note the polling rate set at 4k works in D2 just fine, also on steam. I have disabled steam overlays, I also always use display capture for streaming due to D2 having the same issue with game capture. Based on a reddit post I also disabled discord game detection, and tried with discord closed entirely. Issue is present streaming or not, steam overlay on or off. No other overlays enabled, and again this issue hasn't been present in destiny.
    • Video of issue. First mouse is at 4k, second is at 1k:

  • Also having this issue. I have an OP1 8k v2 mouse. When set to 8k polling, there is a substantial amount of input lag. It is unplayable. When i set it to 4k the problem goes away completely. Overwatch and Apex had this issue in the past, but they have since addressed it. Something is definitely wrong with the way Marathon handles high polling mice.

  • Changing the polling rate on my mouse to 1000Hz (from 8000Hz) resolves the terrible mouse issues for me as well. Please fix this, Bungie.

  • Still an issue on the latest patch, new video:

  • Continues to be an issue on the mid season update patch. Anything approaching a 90 degree turn has the game snap to the final frame when you stop moving the mouse
