Items from the raid were lost because the server was undergoing maintenance

My friend and I didn't know about the planned server maintenance and started the match. When we went to the last extraction, after exiting, the summary window didn't load, just a black screen. We had no choice but to force quit the game using Alt+F4 and wait for the maintenance to end (I found out about it on Discord afterwards).

As soon as the servers were back up, I restarted the game and got a prompt to “Reconnect to the match” because the match data had not been recorded on the servers. I tried to connect several times, but each time I was denied and my friend too. 

A message appeared saying that all equipped items would be lost upon returning to the lobby. We had no choice but to click that button, which we did. As a result, me and my friend lost both our (initial) items and the ones we got during the raid. 

Is there any way to recover our gear? We would appreciate any help.

    In the event that an error occurs with Bungie’s server or network infrastructure, connection recovery may not be possible. We will attempt to ensure that any players affected by a server error will have their starting gear returned to them. 

    Note: Gear refund only applies to a subset of server error conditions, and will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.
