Patch notes scrolling to top regularly
Hey Bungie employee who happens to be reading this,
I like your game, quite a bit! However...
This game is hard enough as it is. Which, I don't mind, but I can't even read through the patch notes without the UI scrolling to the top every 30 seconds or so.
Some people play Minecraft on Peaceful mode after a day of work or school or... life. Some people play Marathon. Everyone's different, and different people are different on different days and at different times. Yours Truly likes to play Marathon sometimes, and is a fan of other work Bungie have done in the past. But the last thing I want to deal with when I log in to play some games is a UI that I often find frustrating to use. I was excited to try Season 3 until I encountered said bug with the patch notes and promptly closed the game. After the frustrating moments and wasted time in Season 2 when I'd logged into Marathon to unwind, I really was not looking forward to more of the same. I have enough issues getting technology to work in my life outside of this game and it's the last thing I want to deal with when I'm gaming.
As some Bungie staff were candid enough to say in a recent YouTube video, the game may have been too difficult for many players. I like the game. It's not for everyone, and it's certainly not always for me. But for goodness' sake, please, please, please fix whatever is going on with the UI. To be quite frank, that stuff makes me not even want to play sometimes. I know Bungie are looking for a new UX lead (at least, they were recently) so this is probably a problem the organization is aware of. I simply wanted to voice my opinion.
I hope this message is received in the spirit it was written in - by someone who adores your game, but finds it frustrating sometimes and would really like to see it improve. There are many different ideas out there in players' minds regarding weapon balance, the importance of PvE modes, etc. but I'm sure all of us would enjoy a UI that is smoother and more polished.
I've tried to make simple web pages using HTML, CSS and JavaScript in the past and it was not nearly as simple as I thought it would be, so even as an armchair critic I can appreciate that UX work can be challenging. To end this on a lighter note, I otherwise find the UX to be pretty darn cool and not only nice to look at, but also functional. It's simply the bugs that irritate me.
If you'd like a video of the bug in action, I'm really not up to providing that right now, but I could perhaps provide that at a later time, if you'd like. The issue occurred shortly before I posted this message, on Steam, on the latest game version at this time. Reproduction steps - uhh... log into the game for the first time this season and read the patch notes, I guess. Discord and other overlay programs were not running at the time.
Bungie, you people rock and I hope you are able to see Marathon succeed and thrive. I certainly see that happening. Have a good day.
Sincerely,
A Bungie fan

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out and for reporting this.
If you encounter this again, please use your platform's capture button to take a video. If you already have a video, you can upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here, and we’ll be glad to take a look.
Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEu0QuwBraM
*sighs* YouTube seems to be... editing videos on my behalf? I'm not sure what exactly that's all about, but I think you can still see the behaviour I'm referring to in the video, if not how long it takes the mailbox to snap to the top after scrolling down.
This is exactly the kind of frustrating thing I'm talking about. I go to upload a video of my bug, and apparently the video doesn't play back the same way once uploaded to YouTube as it does on my computer. Anyway, I hope you can make do with the video and I'll see if I can upload it again and get it working better.
This video looks like it was processed correctly by YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHpoxg5EbtY
