Overheating PS5

I have the same issue as many I have a base model ps5 disk edition that keeps overheating only with marathon. I have run through all the settings, disableing 60 frames and out puts however marathon keeps causing the console to overheat and safety shut down after the 20 min mark of a session. I have replaced the console thermal liquild metal as well as deeply cleaned the fans. 

I deeply hope that on somepoint during the following couple of updates the root cause can be solved.

    Thanks for the report.

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with overheating when trying to play the game. Can you please try the following steps:

    • Completely power down your PS5 (not rest mode), wait ~30 seconds, then start it back up.
    • Check for and install any system updates (PS5 system software)
    • On PS5, you can also try Rebuilding the Database by going into Safe Mode → Rebuild Database.
    • Delete and Reinstall Marathon and Clear your console's cache (Please check out this guide)

    Also, please make sure your console has good ventilation and is not kept in a confined space.

    If the issue continues, please let us know where it happens, how long you were playing before it started, and whether it happens every time. If you are able to capture a video, please do so and upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here. If the console also overheats in other games, please contact PlayStation Support as well.
