Double Inputs and menu lag

My game was working perfectly until last Friday. When I tried to play, I immediately noticed that the menus felt sluggish. Navigating my backpack was slow, and both the mouse movement and in-actions felt heavy and laggy. On top of that, moving around sometimes causes double inputs and ghost key presses, making the game difficult to play.

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out and for reporting this.

Please provide the following details to add to your report:

    • The approximate date and time of when this happened
    • Were you streaming or recording when this happened? If yes, which app and game window vs whole screen?
    • Does controller still work while mouse & keyboard feel delayed or doubled?
    • Does it go away after 2 minutes or only after restart?
    • A short video showing one keypress causing menu double-open/double-close or delayed tab switching.

Please use your platform's capture button to take a video. You can upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here and we’ll be glad to take a look.

    • The approximate date and time of when this happened
      .Approximately Wednesday 6/24/2026

    • Were you streaming or recording when this happened? If yes, which app and game window vs whole screen?
No. I also have disable every overlay. Discord, Steam, Nvidia.

    • Does controller still work while mouse & keyboard feel delayed or doubled?
I don't play with a controller, I use mouse and keyboard.

    • Does it go away after 2 minutes or only after restart?
No. I even reinstalled my windows and nothing worked.

is a Video still necessary ?

  • I just tested the game with ps5 controller and the lag disappeared. When I play with the controller lag is not present but when I switch to my Mouse and keyboard lag returns

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for the details.

Please try the following steps in order:

    • Fully close the game
    • On Windows, press Windows + R, type %appdata%, and open the Bungie folder
    • Locate the game’s Prefs folder and delete the cvars.xml file
    • Relaunch the game so it creates a fresh default settings file automatically
    • Launch the game again and test first with default mouse and keyboard bindings, without any custom remaps
    • If possible, temporarily disable any mouse/keyboard software or macros and test again
    • If available, try a second mouse or keyboard to help rule out a device-specific issue

If the issue continues after a clean reset with default bindings, please send us a short video showing the menu lag and the doubled inputs on mouse and keyboard.

  • The longer I play, the more frequent the random ghost inputs become. During a gunfight, for example, my weapon will suddenly reload on its own, or some other random action will trigger without any input from me.

  • I'm having the exact same issues as you. Sluggish mouse movement in the menus, and ghost double inputs for actions.

When I try switching firing modes with Z, it'll often revert back, and I have to spam it until it stays in the desired configuration. Destroyer's thrust will randomly activate from tapping space bar a single time. Toggling crouch reverts back to crouching sometimes.

None of this happened prior to the recent patch.

Following these steps didn't fix it for me either.

  • I fixed the problem. I had LG switch automatically starting on bootup. I disabled it and my menus are smooth again/no double inputs

  • Turning off my LG mornitor “OnScreen Control app” did the trick. The double input and menu lag is no longer present. Thank you Yodzy!!! Now why would this cause so much issue ?
