My game keeps freezing on launch before the sign in screen

The game crashed yesterday and I no longer could see my gpu in device manager. I have done a ton of debugging and am happy to link what all I have done, but my pc is all back in working order except for marathon which wont even make it to the sign in screen now.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the report.

    Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    • Press Esc once or twice on the frozen screen. 
    • In Steam, verify the game files.
    • Reinstall or update your GPU driver, then restart your PC.
    • Turn off overlays like Steam, Discord, GeForce/Adrenalin, RTSS/MSI Afterburner, or ReShade.
    • If it still hangs, try another network as a test. 

    If that doesn’t help, please send us the following:

    • a fresh screenshot
    • whether Esc changes anything
    • whether Steam found bad files
    • whether another network changes the result
    • any new error or crash text

    Same issue.  Played a bunch of matches in the afternoon/evening but when I tried to launch it just now it hangs immediately upon launch (PC/Steam).  Still happening after multiple restarts.

     

    Edit: Back to normal this morning after a reinstall.

    This is happening again today.  The pattern seems to be:
    1. Play a session without any issue earlier in the day
    2. Attempt to play again later in the day (~2ish hours from the last session in this case)
    Bug: Game freezes on launch before the ps/bungie logos.  The Steam overlay pop-up in the lower-right that usually goes away after a few seconds remains there, leading me to think the game has completely crashed at this point.  ESC key does nothing.  No corrupt files in Steam file verification, no overlays active, restart did not resolve the issue, drivers are up to date and I don't have another network to test with (not even sure what you mean by this, get another ISP?  I release/renewed my IP, no effect.)
