Coordinate datapad location not updating

I thought the coordinate datapad location should periodically update once you pick up one of them. This assassin and I each held one set of coordinates, and played cat-and-mouse in Hauler for quite a while, but my coordinate datapad POI indicator never changed from its original spawn point.
