Marathon frames dropping

I have just downloaded marathon excited to play but I go on skip the tutorial and go back to the lobby proceed to close the game as my frames are low and restart it and now everytime i load in my frames and gpu are fine up until the second loading phase after pressing mouse button to log in, by this i mean the loading phase after the pattern in the middle when it moves into the bottom left hand corner. As soon as it reaches this loading phase my frames drop to 5 and my gpu is at 100% even with the graphics settings at the lowest possible. This only occurs with marathon no other game. I have a AMD ryzen 5, 16 gb of ram and a 1650 nvidia gpu. Please help because i really want to play marathon moving to it as destiny is no more.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    • Make sure Marathon is fully updated.
    • Update your NVIDIA driver.
    • Verify the game files in Steam.
    • Restart your PC.
    • Close overlays or background apps like Discord, GeForce Experience, Xbox Game Bar, and MSI Afterburner/.
    • Delete or rename the Marathon cvars file so the game recreates it with fresh settings.
    • Try fullscreen instead of borderless or windowed.

If the issue still happens after that, please share the following so it can be investigated further:

    • Whether this started immediately after the first launch when you skipped the tutorial
    • Your game version
    • Your driver version
    • Whether verifying files changed anything
    • A short video showing the FPS/GPU usage before and during that second loading phase

Please use your platform's capture button to take a video. You can upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here and we’ll be glad to take a look.
