Console specific connection issues

Hello, my name is Keith and I’m writing this to help highlight a drastically desperate issue I’ve found. Basically extreme server issues on PlayStation and barely any at all on Xbox. I’ve played Marathon only on the PlayStation and throughout S1 there were connectivity issues, rubber banding, jumps, freezes and random resets of camera and character state. (Like crouching then forced to stand due to connectivity or whatever) In S2 it’s gotten worse, now—Regularly mind you, as in 10 matches in a row consistent— 15 seconds after loading in, regardless of team size or mode, or map, I become frozen, I cannot move my character forward as if friction itself maxed out, I can jump and move forward that way, but after a varied amount of time (consistently usually at minimum 1 minute, but has been as long as 2 and a half) I reset my position to when the lag started and it’s insufferable. It’s noticeable with my teammates as well ( they don’t get the same lag but they can see when I “teleport”) sometimes these can also happen consecutively seconds after each other, so there’s no guarantee I get to run around after that minute plus of freezing. I play with two fellows, one in my house who plays on an Xbox Series X, and another on a PlayStation in Iowa (me and house friend are in Texas) what happens is Xbox fellow gets no lag, no jumps, no errors nothing! We use the same wifi! Iowa friend gets only minor lag, nothing on my scale. So we tested by using my own Xbox Series X and found that I when playing on Xbox experience little to no lag at all!! I am more than willing to help run tests though I am unfamiliar with the extreme specifics of console specs but if you ask I am willing to help. I just really want to play this game (I have footage too, just with some recorded audio as well so bear in mind.) also during all of this I have hosted the parties.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the detailed report.

Could you try the following steps to see if helps with the network issues on your PS5:

    • Check PlayStation Network status and confirm there are no active PSN issues.
    • Fully restart your PS5.
    • Restart your router/modem.
    • Retest one match solo.
    • Retest one match while not hosting the party.
    • If possible, retest on a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.

If it still happens, send back:

    • Whether the PS5 was on Wi-Fi or wired
    • Whether crossplay was enabled
    • Whether you were party host
    • The date and time with timezone
    • The map and mode
    • A video showing the freeze, movement restriction, and teleport/snapback

You can upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here and we’ll be glad to take a look.

  • I put in spaces in the text box I am sorry they did not go through
