Stuck in “Continue Waiting?” loop after server disconnect — cannot play / WEASEL error on PS5
Hi,
I need help because I’m currently unable to play after a server disconnect.
After the latest update, I was playing Marathon on PS5, on the Perimeter map. We were not extracting at that moment — we were looting the boss cache. Suddenly, a message appeared saying that I was losing connection to Marathon servers, and then the connection was lost.
When I tried to reconnect, I received a warning message saying that the previous run had not been finalized. It says that if I return to the lobby, I will forfeit any items I brought into the run, as well as any progress/loot made during that run. The options are Continue Waiting or Return to Lobby.
The problem is:
If I choose Continue Waiting, nothing happens. I waited for around one hour and the same message keeps appearing.
If I choose Return to Lobby, the next screen says:
“Could not connect to Marathon servers. Check your network configuration and try again. For information on resolving this issue visit help.bungie.net and search for error code: weasel.”
When I dismiss that error, I’m brought back to the title screen, and the same loop starts again.
I have already tried the following:
- Restarted the game
- Restarted the PS5
- Restarted my router
- Switched from Wi-Fi to a LAN cable connection
- Checked online server status pages, which say the servers are up
- I can even receive invitations from friends in Marathon, but accepting them does not fix the issue and I still cannot enter/play the game
At the moment I seem to be stuck in a failed reconnect/finalization state from the previous run, and I cannot get back into the game normally.
Could support please advise what I should do next? Is there a way to force-finalize or clear the stuck run/session on the server side without losing access to the game?
I understand I may lose the loot from that run, but right now my bigger issue is that I cannot play at all.

We've received some reports of this issue and are investigating the underlying issue further. For the time being, we sadly do not have any additional troubleshooting outside of our Basic and Advanced Network Troubleshooting Guides, and the Help Article for the code, if you'd not tried them before.
Hello bungie, I am experiencing the same issue. I have tried everything after losing connection to my marathon lobby mid game. I have restored my license, deleted and redownloaded, and done all the network connectivity variations on my PS5. It keeps trying to reload me into the session and when given the option to abandon and return to lobby or keep waiting both options lead to a weasel server error.
I’m at a loss for how to proceed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
