I need help ''freeze crash''

The game freezes immediately at startup, before the Sony and Marathon cinematics/logos appear. It gets stuck on the very first startup screen and never loads further.

My PC specs:

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Platform: Steam

I already tried:

  • Verifying game files
  • Reinstalling the game
  • Updating AMD drivers
  • Running as administrator
  • Disabling overlays
  • Reinstalling anti-cheat
  • Clearing cache/config files
  • Using different launch options (-dx11, -dx12, -windowed)

Before this issue started happening, my last changes in the game settings were:

  • Changing graphics from Ultra to Medium
  • Disabling V-Sync
  • Removing the FPS limiter
  • Disabling motion blur

This issue started occurring on 09/05.

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the game stability when trying to play the game.

    To start out, we'd recommend ensuring that all of your drivers, windows, and your BIOS are all fully up-to-date. 

    If you still run into the same issue despite updating these, can you provide us with a copy of your DxDiag? You can copy and paste it over on PasteBin and provide us with the link.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the response.

    I updated my Windows, AMD drivers, and BIOS, but the issue still persists.

    The game freezes immediately at startup before the Sony and Marathon cinematics/logos appear. It gets stuck on the very first loading screen every time.

    The issue started occurring on 09/05 after I changed some in-game graphics settings:

    • Changed graphics preset from Ultra to Medium

    • Disabled V-Sync

    • Removed the FPS limiter

    • Disabled motion blur

    Platform: Steam

    Thanks for the DxDiag.

    Based on the information provided, it looks like your PC may be running a preview or nonstandard version of Windows 11. Preview and nonstandard OS builds can sometimes introduce stability or compatibility issues with games. Since Marathon is freezing on the very early startup screen, before the logo sequence begins, our first recommendation would be to make sure your system is on a standard retail version of Windows 11 and that all pending Windows updates are installed.

    After updating to a standard Windows 11 build, please try launching the game again and let us know if the issue continues.
