A system for loadout recovery due to server issues
We just lost a cryo game due to hit non reg, desync and other server side issues.
I can grind for hours to get a good kit, then have expert positioning, hit all my shots on my screen just to get downed by the enemy team with perfect hit registration from them.
I have AMAZING internet fwiw
Also our Destroyers shield also wasn’t registered and we got shot through the shield so there was a server side issue 100%
It’s so deflating and adds to the already large amount of dark patterns that this game has.
I have no issue losing, it’s part of the charm, but not unfairly… I hate feeling bitter and cheated by something out of my control and it left such a sour taste in my mouth
Please try to improve sync and hit registration, losing hard earned kits due to random server issues is not fun and makes me not want to play
Today I just instantly closed the game and wrote off marathon for the day, my favorite game at the moment, and one of the best game in years
Add to the fact that in my limited time I cannot fully commit to all day all weekend Cryo, and I can’t find the loot I need on other maps, just makes me give up, instead of being eager to play
And this is coming from someone who really loves the game
Please Bungie take another look at the desync issues and try to find a fix, it’s a shame
Maybe I can grind my way up again to a nice kit this weekend, or maybe I just give up…. And this is something that if I’m feeling as a huge fan and advocate for this game, I can’t imagine more neutral players feelings

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your recent experience with some desyncing and lagging issues in Cryo Archive. I understand how discouraging this must feel, and I am truly sorry to hear that this has cost you and your team your run.
While I acknowledge that you aren't seeing any issues with your network setup, it might be worth it for your teammates to verify their own internet connection if some of their hits and shields weren't registering properly. They may want to view our Network Troubleshooting Guide just to rule out any potential networking issues and to hopefully prevent this from reoccurring. You can also track your platform's server status to see if there were any outages at the time this happened.
You can also review our Help article for Optimizing Connections, for further tips that might help prevent these incidents.
That said, if desyncs like that consistently happen in the same area of the map, you're welcome to let me know here so we can see if anything is happening on our end. If you're able to reproduce this incident, feel free to record a short clip of it and send me a link here, and I'll be happy to review.
As for gear refunds, Support is unfortunately unable to manually return lost loot. We do, however, have a system in place that automatically refunds gear lost to a subset of server errors. Please note that this will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.

I imagine it’s very difficult to refund gear due to desync, because the server only sees the inputs from the client, I just wish that this is something you can think about implementing down the line, maybe a packet detection or sync checker?
I’m just sad that these bad experiences due to random stuff kill the flow, more than getting legitimately stomped.
Yesterday I got stomped back to back for many rounds and I just persevered opened couple of vaults met great people as it’s all part of the game.
Going forward sure I’ll adapt and just take this as another way to lose, I just wish there was more time to experience Cryo (which happily will be the case end of season) as it’s already difficult as it is (which is great I love the challenge and the tension) having it only on the weekends means I have to choose between friends family and Marathon :/
I’ll think about recording these issues since I deeply love this game and maybe some visual feedback will help the dev team nail these down.
I mean the amount of work and detail and the way it’s evolving day by day is simply astonishing, and making the experience flow without hiccups as you guys envisioned it, is something worth striving for.
Besides the dark patterns that slowly are brilliantly being addressed one by one, my main gripes that remain are desync, mantling and audio issues (many times I can’t hear anything behind me even if I am getting shot by someone 2 meters from me)
These 3 alone cost me many matches and it’s something that just takes from the agency and decision making of the player and feels unfair and unnecessary
So even if I hanged my shell suit for the day, I deeply love this game and will 100% return to as soon as possible.
