I got disconnected from a match, then lost all my gear

  • Bungie Account Name - Cold#9505
  • Platform - Steam
  • Description of Issue - I was playing an Outpost match, then received the "Contacting Marathon Servers" message at the bottom of my screen. I tried to reconnect, but was immediately grapefruited, causing me to return to the ready screen before a run. I lost all the gear I brought into the run.
  • Rough Date and Time of issue - May 5, 2026, 1:40 am AKST
  • Repro steps - Play the game before maintenance

    We're sorry to hear about this issue. 

    In the event that an error occurs with Bungie’s server or network infrastructure, connection recovery may not be possible. We will attempt to ensure that any players affected by a server error will have their starting gear returned to them. 

    Note: Gear refund only applies to a subset of server error conditions, and will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.

  • My teammates exfiled my weapons and protector so I was able to get them back

  • No, It's not a problem with our network, or anything like that, it's not a client-side issue. Both my teammate and I were disconnected at the same time, 12.00am GMT+2, and a lot of people who reported this issue on both the forum and Discord were disconnected as well.
