Game Freezes On Launch

After the update yesterday, my game will no longer launch and gets stuck on the opening load screen.

Here is a list of things I have tried for troubleshooting:

- Restarted my PC

- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game

- Verified game files

- Cleared Steam cache

- Checked cable connections

- Removed Steel Series Arena 9 connection (external audio)

- Checked Windows settings to ensure my settings are correct

- Checked that my graphics driver is up-to-date

Here are a list of games I have verified work today:

- Warframe

- Destiny 2

- Expedition 33

- BG3

- Battlefield 6

Any help would be great as this is quite annoying. Thanks.

    Hi there,

We're glad to hear you were able to resolve the issue. If you run into any other issues, please don't hesitate to create a new thread!

  • I fixed the issue. I strongly recommend you all find a better anti-cheat other than BattlEye.

After the update, my audio settings were changed and not set (again), and as a result of this, BattlEye was making it impossible to open the game.

  • Hey there!
Got the same problem here. At first today I launched the game but had no sound so I tried to relaunch and since then no luck, game app freezes during the first loading screen.
How did you manage to correct the error?

  • Okay, just found out a way...
On my side, BattleEye freaked out because of Nahimic audio service...

  • Idk if theres a way to reply to your comments, but what i had to do was launch Marathon and then open my Windows sound settings (Settings > System > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences) and then find Marathon and set the audio to my Steel Series devices. This has been an issue on PC for awhile in D2 as well. It generally happens after updates.
