Game crashes after “Press Enter to Continue” – EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (PC)
The game launches normally and stays stable on the initial menu screen (“Press Enter to Continue”). However, after pressing continue, a loading icon appears for around 5 seconds and then the game crashes to desktop every time.
I am unable to get past this point, so I have not been able to reach the main menu or gameplay at all.
Error:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Tried to read address 0x0000000000000000
Renderer: DirectX 12
System Specs (Desktop):
CPU: Intel i9-10900F
GPU: RTX 3060 (12GB)
RAM: 32GB
Motherboard: MSI Z490 (MS-7C76)
OS: Windows 10 (22H2, fully updated)
Important Note:
The game works fine on my gaming laptop, but consistently crashes on my desktop with the above specs.
Steps Already Tried:
- Updated BIOS to latest version
- Updated Windows to latest version (22H2)
- Clean installed multiple NVIDIA drivers (including 537.58 and 552.44)
- Disabled all overlays (NVIDIA, Discord, etc.)
- Uninstalled monitoring software (RivaTuner, FrameView)
- Verified game files via Steam
- Cleared config/cache folders
- Reinstalled BattlEye
- Ran game and Steam as administrator
- Disabled antivirus temporarily
- Tried different launch options (-d3d11, windowed mode)
- Tested with minimal peripherals connected
Result:
Crash still occurs consistently at the same point (after pressing continue, during loading).
