No GPU usage

  • Bungie Account Name - Ephraim WinsIow#3157
  • Platform - Steam
  • Description of Issue - I cant even get into menus to change any settings. Loading up marathon on steam results in the intro screen running on 1 FPS (steam overlay). Seemingly bottlenecked as CPU usage is at 20% and GPU at 4% while running. Marathon exhibits absolutley no GPU usage in task manager. I cannot even adjust any settings in game as I get an error code "chicken" - failure to connect to character servers. I use Virgin media in the UK, and have I dont have any issues connecting to the destiny 2 servers. There is no issues with my ethernet, and i am getting 400Mbps down and 50Mbps up as regular. I have updated drivers, reprioritized graphics to GPU through windows graphic settings, but nothing seems to work.
  • I am on a gaming laptop. And I have been made aware of the no support for laptops (annoyingly after i bought the game), so there is no need to copy and paste the laptop disclaimer. However I have also seen other users with no issues being on laptop, and I fail to see how this is resulting in 1FPS and error code chicken.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

While it may be possible to play on certain laptop configurations, we do not officially support them per our Marathon Storage and System Requirements guide.

That said, the two most helpful things to try are:

    • Make sure Windows and your GPU control panel are set to run Marathon on your discrete RTX 2070 rather than the integrated graphics.
    • Temporarily disable any overlays (Steam overlay, GeForce Experience overlay, Discord overlay, etc.) and try launching again.
  • Hello,

Thanks for the help. Ive managed to get it fixed by running DDU and manually reinstalling my driver. If its any consolation.

    Appreciate the suggestions though
