BattleEye Query Timeout Persists

Bungie Account Name - Bao#5320

Platform - Steam

Description of Issue - Since launch, I've periodically had a BattleEye Query Timeout error that's kicking me out of matches. I've tried many online solutions, from permitting BattleEye through my firewall, disabling RGB apps (Signal RGB, Razer Synapse), changing my router DNS from ISP to Google's, and deleting and reinstalling BattleEye. Right now, I'm currently testing whether it's my peripherals (Xbox Controller and M&K being active at the same time) as well as deleting the Xbox Controller Extended Driver from Steam. Restarting my PC temporarily stops the error after I experience it, otherwise I get disconneceted very 5-10 minutes.

My PC is wired to the router. I don't use any VPNs or additional traffic‑shaping tools. I don 't use any overlays other than Steam's. I also have no other game launchers open while playing.

Rough Date and Time of issue - It happens periodically, last Sunday at around 9AM PT, multiple times in a row.

Repro steps - I can't intentionally reproduce it. It either happens or it doesn't.

    Hello there,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Could you try the following troubleshooting steps to see if it helps resolve the issue that you are having with BattlEye:

    • Uninstall Marathon via Steam.
    • Delete any remaining BattlEye folders under the game directory.
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Reinstall Marathon (this will reinstall BattlEye cleanly).

    • Power-cycle router/modem (unplug 30s, plug it back in).
    • If possible, try a different Ethernet cable and a different router port.
    • If you can, test once on a phone hotspot to see if the timeouts continue.
    • Temporarily unplug extra USB devices (capture cards, extra controllers, USB hubs).
    • Use only one input method (just M&K or just controller).
    • Close all background apps: RGB, hardware monitors, browser with lots of tabs, etc.

    • Right-click Steam → Run as administrator, then launch Marathon.
    • Make sure Marathon.exe and BEService.exe are allowed in Windows Firewall and in any Antivirus program (inbound + outbound).
  • Thank you for the quick reply. I have attempted the following and will try the other steps soon.
