Game Issues with Kaspersky, AirPods Audio, and Performance (Low FPS & Crashes)

I’m having some issues with my antivirus, Kaspersky. It blocks the game’s anti-cheat system, preventing me from playing Marathon, so I have to disable its AI protection feature.

Also, my AirPods don’t work properly in the game — when I try to use them, the game audio goes completely silent, and I have to disable voice chat entirely for the sound to work.

Lastly, I’m having performance issues. I have a laptop with an RTX 4060 and a 13th-gen i7, but I can’t get more than 70 FPS, and the game occasionally crashes."

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

While it may be possible to play on certain laptop configurations, we do not officially support them per our Marathon Storage and System Requirements guide.

As you are using Kaspersky, have you tried Whitelisting both Marathon and BattlEye? Whitelisting an application helps prevent it from being blocked by your antivirus program.

To whitelist Marathon and BattlEye, open Kaspersky, go to Settings (Big Cog) > Security Settings (or Additional) > Threats and exclusions > Manage Exclusions and then add both Marathon and BattlEye and save.

And finally finally, for the issue with your AirPods, could you try the following to see if it helps:

    • Set AirPods as Default Output and Default Communications.
    • In Marathon Audio settings, explicitly pick the AirPods device.

We are aware of players reporting issues with Bluetooth audio and are investigating. In the meantime, we can suggest the following workarounds:

    • Either disable in-game voice chat when using AirPods, or
    • Use a different (non-Bluetooth or wired) headset for in-game voice.
