Game got stuck in "Continue Waiting" prompt before ranked match even started, lost everything

Description of Issue: Last night I queued for a ranked game with roughly 8k worth of loot on me. Before the game even showed me enter a match or pair with teammates, it kicked me out to a "Return to lobby or Continue Waiting" prompt, and said reentering the lobby would result in gear loss. Clicking continue waiting for 30+mins didn't do anything and eventually it just kicked me out to a failure screen and showed all my gear as having been lost.

Rough Date and Time of Issue: March 24th, 2026, around 1:20 AM EST

Repro Steps: N/A

It would be one thing if I actually had a network issue mid-match but this was clearly a game server issue that caused me to lose a large amount of gear that I brought into the match. Attached is the screen showing all the gear I lost, including a thermal scoped BR33.

    We're sorry to hear about this issue. 

    In the event that an error occurs with Bungie’s server or network infrastructure, connection recovery may not be possible. We will attempt to ensure that any players affected by a server error will have their starting gear returned to them. 

    Note: Gear refund only applies to a subset of server error conditions, and will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.
