Weapons are sometimes held at the wrong angle, causing issues with visibility when in combat.
Not quite sure what series of events lead to this specifically, but on an Outpost solo run, I had this issue during a PvP encounter in Processing. Something lead to my LMG with shield to be held sideways, image attached for an example. I wasn't recording unfortunately so I can't provide video evidence, unfortunately this bug persisted until I died (pardon the quality, had to heavily compress since it was too large).

If you notice this happen again, please try to capture a video that shows the issue occurring. You can upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here and we’ll be glad to take a look.
