Possible sollution to game failing to launch (Black screen + CTD)

So, I've been unable to play the game since 1.0.0.4 and after exhausting every option there is to try (see my previous post here), I decided to give it some more tries. 

Even though I had completely reinstalled windows and tried to boot Marathon after reinstalling windows, as the only installed application, it still didn't launch.

When Marathon was working at release, I'd already receive BattlEye errors / popups about Keyscrambler, but it would still launch the game. (Keyscrambler: keystroke-encryption technology - To prevent keyloggers from logging your exact keystrokes, if ever infected with one). Starting at patch 1.0.0.4, the game wouldn't boot anymore and would give me a black screen after the BattlEye popup and then crash to desktop. The BattlEye popup would not report any errors either and would just say it was succesful in launching and would then launch the game. So I was under the assumption is was (still) no issue. 

Today however, after being frustrated with not being able to play Marathon for 10 days now, I decided to close down all my background applications once more. (Razer Synapse, Logitech GHUB, Steelseries GG, Discord and Keyscrambler) Next thing you know, the game actually launches... 

So to find the culprit I started launching each application one by one and boot Marathon after every one of them. The game kept regularly booting until I launched Keyscrambler. The game would go back to black screen and crashing to desktop.

Conclusion: For people experiencing the exact same, launching the game, initializing BattlEye and then being met with a black screen and the game closing back down without any errors: try to close all the applications in your system tray, see if the game launches again and slowly start activating applications again while trying to launch the game to see which application stops you from playing! 

In my case the culprit was Keyscrambler, which BattlEye apparently doesn't like and prevents you from booting up the game. So see if there's anything you feel BattlEye might find a questionable application to run while playing games and close it down!
