Error code: paprika
Bungie Account Name - ATOMIC1228#5621
Platform - Steam
Description of Issue - I am able to launch game from steam and get to the intial "welcome" screen where it states to "left click" to continue. Once I do this it fails to load and gives me the following message:
"ERROR
Failed to retrieve configuration data from server. There may be an issue with your internet connection. Please try again later.
For possible solutions, visit help.bungie.net and search for error code: paprika
Aditional information: W:8:00002EF1"
I checked my internet connection which was fine, rebooted my starlink connection, did an update that was available for that, rebooted my computer, and came back to the same error code still present. To test other things I loaded into Destny 2 to see if it was maybe a Bungie Server issue but that loaded and played without issue. I also have no connection issues with internet browesers or anything else that I use my network for.
Rough Date and Time of Issue - Current issue occured on 3/18/26 at roughly 6:15am Central time. I had this issue on the morning of the 17th as well but saw that the servers were down for maintence so I did nothing further since I assumed it was just from the servers being down. Came back this morning to the same error but no server issues currently reported or server downtime active.

Hello there,
Thank you for reaching out.
PAPRIKA happens during startup/sign-in when the game fails to download required configuration files
It’s usually a temporary server/CDN blip or something on your network blocking those downloads.
Quick things to try
Check for outages
Look at Marathon Help – Error Codes and @BungieHelp to see if there’s a known login/config issue.
Fully restart game + platform
Quit Marathon and your launcher (Steam/Epic).
Restart your PC/console.
Launch again and try to log in.
Power-cycle your network & avoid VPNs
Unplug modem/router for 30–60 seconds, plug back in, wait until fully online.
Make sure you’re not using a VPN or proxy; if you are, turn it off and test.
PC: firewall / antivirus / “web protection”
In Windows Firewall, ensure Marathon is allowed on Private and Public networks.
Temporarily disable antivirus web-shield/HTTPS inspection or add exceptions for Marathon, then test again.
If you’re on a work/school network, try a mobile hotspot instead; if it works there, your main network is blocking the config downloads.
