Disconnected from server due to AWS outage, could not log back in even after trying over and over again. Lost all my gear

Bungie name: Aeriqui #7028
Platform: Steam

Description: I was mid run on Dire March with roughly 3 minutes remaining and I was disconnected. Tried over and over and over again to reconnect in time and kept receiving error codes, W:8:00002EE2 in addition to error code 0 randomly. Please don't tell me i've lost all of this gear after a run due to circumstances completely out of my control.

Date and Time: 3/18 at 12:45am
Repro steps: Exited Game and steam, restarted, checked home internet settings and web browser, verified that AWS outage occured in Virginia area

    Hello there,

We're sorry to hear about this issue.

In the event that an error occurs with Bungie’s server or network infrastructure, connection recovery may not be possible. We will attempt to ensure that any players affected by a server error will have their starting gear returned to them.

Note: Gear refund only applies to a subset of server error conditions, and will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.

You may also visit our Network Troubleshooting guide for more information about disconnections.

  • I do not have a VPN and I have default DNS settings, this disconnection was giving error code 0 and saying marathon server was not available. I was able to connect to the internet completely normally but the marathon servers would not connect. I ran through all the network troubleshooting steps and this was not due to my own network settings, but an AWS outage.
