BattlEye Error Code PLUM After Clean Windows Install and Patch 1.0.5

This is a follow-up report to my previous connectivity issue (Error Code: WEASEL), which I have been documenting in daily reports.

After performing a clean installation of Windows and updating the game, I am now encountering a different error:

"BattlEye has detected a problem. For more information, visit help.bungie.net and search for error code: PLUM."

This error occurs consistently a few seconds after loading into the tutorial. I am able to start the game and enter gameplay, but I get kicked shortly after.

It is unclear whether this new error is caused by:
- the clean Windows 11 installation (24H2)
- the recent Marathon patch (1.0.5)
- or a combination of both

---

Troubleshooting steps already completed:

- Clean install of Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (fresh system, no leftover software)
- Reinstalled Marathon
- Reinstalled BattlEye using:
  - Uninstall_BattlEye.bat
  - Install_BattlEye.bat
- Added all BattlEye .exe files to Windows Defender Firewall exceptions
- Ran System File Checker (sfc /scannow)
- No third-party antivirus installed (Windows Defender only)
- No background applications running during gameplay
- GPU driver updated to latest version (NVIDIA 595.79)

Additionally:
- Escape from Tarkov (also using BattlEye) works without any issues on the same system

---

Notes:

The BattlEye FAQ and the troubleshooting steps referenced on the Marathon "Error Code: PLUM" page primarily address startup or installation issues. However, in this case:
- BattlEye initializes successfully
- The game launches normally
- The error occurs only after entering gameplay

This suggests the issue may be related to:
- runtime integrity checks
- network validation
- or a false positive triggered during gameplay

---

Previous report reference:

In my earlier reports, I consistently encountered Error Code: WEASEL (network-related). Extensive troubleshooting was already performed, including:
- Port forwarding
- DNS changes
- Router resets
- Network diagnostics (traceroute, pathping)
- Verification of active server endpoints (e.g. 205.234.118.x:7500)

It is currently unclear whether the new PLUM error is related to or independent from the previous WEASEL issue.

---

System Information:

OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (fresh install)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9800X3D
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 (Driver 595.79)
RAM: 32 GB

Country: Germany
ISP: Deutsche Telekom
Connection: Wired Ethernet

Bungie Account: Gitorian#9112
Platform: Steam / PC

---

Summary:

After resolving potential system-level issues via a clean OS install, the original WEASEL error has been replaced by a BattlEye PLUM error occurring during gameplay.

Given that BattlEye works correctly in other games, this may indicate:
- a game-specific BattlEye integration issue
- or a false positive triggered under specific conditions

Any guidance or deeper diagnostic steps would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Error code: PLUM indicates that BattlEye has detected a problem with your computer that may violate our Terms of Service.

Please make sure that your Windows is fully updated, and refer to this FAQ for further information about BattlEye services and things that may trigger this error code:
    https://www.battleye.com/support/faq/

  • Hi,

    thank you for the response.

I have already ensured that my system is fully up to date:
    - Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (fresh clean installation, fully updated via Windows Update)
    - Latest NVIDIA driver installed (595.79)

I have also carefully reviewed the BattlEye FAQ you linked. However, none of the listed issues apply to my situation:

    - No third-party antivirus or security software is installed (Windows Defender only)
    - No background applications, overlays, debuggers, or development tools are running
    - No VPN, proxy, or packet filtering software is active
    - BattlEye is properly installed and initializes without errors
    - The game launches normally and the error only occurs after entering gameplay (not at startup)

    Additionally:
    - Escape from Tarkov (also using BattlEye) works without any issues on the same system
    - This suggests that BattlEye itself is functioning correctly in general

    This issue started only after:
    - a clean Windows reinstall (to resolve a previous WEASEL error)
    - and/or the Marathon patch 1.0.5

Given that the error occurs during gameplay and not during startup, this does not appear to be a typical installation or configuration issue as described in the FAQ.

Could you please provide more specific information about what exactly triggers error code PLUM in this case, or if there are any known false positives related to:
    - recent game updates (1.0.5)
    - specific ISPs (e.g. Deutsche Telekom)
    - or BattlEye integration in Marathon

If needed, I can provide additional logs, service lists, or network diagnostics.

    Thank you.
