Playstation portal map only available in menu

most games have the touch screen on the portal act as the pad on the playstation controller. In marathon I cannot open the map by touching the screen. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but being able to tap the screen to get to the map rather than navigating the curser to the lower left tiny icon in the menu would be much better.
