Repeat crashes when loading into maps

I’m sad to report I have crashed 6x today, and 7x yesterday, in the span of several hours of play. I have really-added Marathon to Windows Firewall, have repaired steam files twice, and restarted. I was unable to play for more than 20 min at a stretch before giving up. I have above reccomended specs and have followed the usual troubleshooting steps on my modem and router for Destiny previously. What else can I try?

    Hi there,

Please see our Marathon Storage and System Requirements guide to double-check that your system meets the current minimum specs. If it does, please try installing the game on another disk (if possible) to rule out potential hardware issues.

If you're still having issues after consulting the guide above, please let us know your system specifications and we'll be glad to investigate further.

  • Nvidia Driver updated to Mar 2 GameReady Version 3/7/2026. Just experienced another crash. The crash is occurring loading into Dire Marsh after waiting in the queue.
Experienced 3 more crashes since GPU update, for a total of 4 today. Love the game, hope to avoid having to repeatedly run the game and try to re-join matches.

    Hardware:

    1. Intel Core i9-10900k CPU
    2. 64 GB RAM
    3. Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU
    4. ROG Maximus XII Hero Rev 1.xx motherboard

    Software:

    1. OS is Win 11 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8037)
    2. Version: 595.79 (Tue Mar 10, 2026).

Drives I have tried Marathon installed on:

    1. Samsung 970 Pro SSD 160 GB free
    2. WD Black SN770 2 TB 335 GB free

Gotta say, as a huge fan of Marathon and Bungie since 1996, I don't really appreciate the attempted brush-off here. I have 2,237 hours in Destiny 2, countless hours in the original trilogy and Aleph One, and purchased the Deluxe Edition to support Marathon. I am streaming and posting videos of gameplay, on YouTube and engaging creators and critics, interacting with the Discord, and generally supportive of the game as it's something I want to see do well. You can also check my username for about 30 years of history as a fan of the franchise and Bungie.

...So it's pretty insulting to hear "check minimum specs" when I'm not the only person experiencing crashes when queueing, and people on the official discord are reporting being banned for crashes and leaving matches beyond their control. Sorry to be dramatic, but...

  • 03/16/2026 Further steps tried: Uninstalled/Reinstalled .Net Suite using Microsoft's toolkit. Restart. Update Intel drivers and restart. Remove and re-add Marathon.exe and MarathonLauncher.exe and BEService_x64.exe (battleye anti-cheat) to Windows Firewall exceptions. Cleared Steam Download Cache.

Crashing still occurs, but Exception code: 0x00000000 no longer reflected in Event Viewer.

03/15/2026 Ongoing Error in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application:

Complete uninstall of Marathon, deletion of Marathon folder in the D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common directory, restart, reinstall. Cleared Steam Download Cache.
Returned all graphical settings to Medium for testing.

As of 03/16/2026 Seems like crashes still occur every 2-3 games. Most often games can be rejoined, but when re-joining fails, the error codes Grapefruit or Ginger are shown.

Any additional data gathering steps welcome,
    Thank you very much.

  • Same here and all my friends have this . We enter a game for 10min max and it crashes. we did everything

Since the latest update, Marathon keeps crashing on PC. The game closes randomly, usually within a few minutes or on the second match. Last week, before the update, I had no issues at all.

    My setup:

    • Intel Core Ultra 7 265

    • RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7

    • 32GB DDR5 6000

    • 2TB NVMe

    What I’ve tried:

    • Locked FPS 60–90

    • Medium graphics settings

    • Disabled NVIDIA Reflex

    • Reinstalled GPU drivers

    • Closed background apps

    • Windows maintenance

Other games like CS2 , Warzone , CS2 , BF6 run fine at high GPU usage

  • Thanks for the details. We're seeing a rise in reports about this and are currently investigating. In the meantime, please be sure to keep your Windows version and GPU drivers up to date.

  • Windows Version is 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8037. And so you know, a lot of people online and in the Discord are recommending rolling back Nvidia drivers to 591.86 | WHQL.

Mine are Version: 595.79 (Tue Mar 10, 2026).

Thanks! Appreciate all the work being done.
