Server Slam Feedback – Strategic Proposal for PvE Expansion

I know this may not be the official feedback channel, but I still felt compelled to share this because I genuinely believe Marathon is sitting on something special.

First of all: the foundation is strong. The gunplay feels incredible, the atmosphere is immersive, and the AI is legitimately challenging. During the Server Slam, many of my solo deaths weren’t to other players — they were to intense, well-designed bots. And that didn’t feel cheap. It felt earned.

That experience made me realize something.

Marathon already has the bones of an incredible PvE experience.

I want to be very clear: I do NOT want PvP removed. Some of my best moments came from high-adrenaline PvPvE runs — wiping two squads and extracting with full loot is an unmatched feeling. That tension is core to the identity of the game.

But there is another fantasy living inside Marathon that deserves room to grow.

There are days when I want competition, voice comms, and high-stakes fights.

And there are days when I want to explore, fight brutal AI, farm codex files, understand the lore, and progress steadily — without the constant mental pressure of human unpredictability.

A dedicated PvE mode — solo or casual trio — with:

• Real risk (loot loss to AI, dangerous extractions)
• Reduced economic rewards compared to PvPvE
• Stronger narrative contracts
• Codex-focused exploration
• Unique AI events or bosses

…would not dilute Marathon’s identity. It would expand it.

Not everyone avoids PvP because they dislike challenge. Sometimes we just want to control the intensity of our experience. A structured PvE option would act as a decompression valve while keeping players engaged in the ecosystem.

If anything, it would deepen emotional attachment to the world. PvP creates adrenaline. PvE creates connection.

Marathon has the potential to be more than just an extraction shooter. It could be a living sci-fi universe players invest in for years.

The AI already proves the technical capability is there.

This isn’t about making the game easier. It’s about unlocking another layer of what already works.

Thank you for building something with this much potential — and for listening.
