Issues with server stability

I’m incredibly frustrated with the current state of the Marathon servers.

I had just managed to wipe an entire squad at an Outpost while playing solo, even though they had significantly better weapons and shields. At the same time, my two teammates eliminated the last remaining team on the map, effectively clearing the entire lobby for us. We had finally earned a chance to loot in peace.

Then the server crashed.

After the crash, I received a message stating that if I returned to the lobby, I would lose not only all of the loot I had just earned, but also the gear I had brought into the raid. I waited for about ten minutes, but nothing happened, so I eventually had no choice but to quit.

I find it unacceptable that a game built around high-risk loot extraction can suffer from server instability that causes players to lose unique gear through no fault of their own. Even worse are the large red warning messages telling players they've lost not only everything they collected during the match, but also the equipment they brought into it. That feels deeply disrespectful to your players.

I've attached a link to a post containing a video I recorded of this incident, along with another video showing a similar server failure from an earlier session.

With all due respect, if this is the experience you're providing your players, it's not surprising that many of them choose to leave.

    Hi there,

    While we're unable to manually return lost loot, we have a system in place that automatically refunds gear lost to a subset of server errors. Please note that this will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.

    If you experience disconnects often, please refer to our Network Troubleshooting Guide for further troubleshooting.

  • Why do I want a refund for lost loot? I want you to fix the issue of server instability. Until that happens, I want a refund for all the loot I acquired but lost due to your fault. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that I couldn't collect loot from the map because the server failed.

    You created a game where a single error leads to the loss of a great deal of effort. So, take responsibility for ensuring the game runs properly.
