lost gear without match connection

Platform - Steam

Description of Issue - queued dire marsh duos with partner (i'm located in CA, partner is in VA, also playing on steam). was loading into the run when i got an error message reporting bandwidth issues (dont remember exact error), was disconnected from the game and still lost all items brought in even though i didn't get to play for one second. partner connected just fine

Rough Date and Time of issue - 6/13/2026, around 9:30 pst

    Thank you for reaching out and reporting this issue.

    If you do remember the error code or error message, please let us know what it was.

    We’re not able to restore items or progress lost due to disconnects, lag, or other connection issues. In cases where a qualifying server‑side error happens, any refunds that can be offered are handled automatically by the game systems, not manually through support.

    In the event that an error occurs with Bungie’s server or network infrastructure, connection recovery may not be possible. We will attempt to ensure that any players affected by a server error will have their starting gear returned to them. 

    Note: Gear refund only applies to a subset of server error conditions, and will not cover gameplay losses due to Internet connectivity or client-side problems.
