Gold ranked skin not unlocking?

Gold 1
Box claimed, no skin inside.
Didn't get the skin from gold 1, friend and i lost to de-rank then hit gold 1 again. still no skin, gold 1 chest claimed.
do we have to hit plat 3 to receive the skin or maybe its an end of season thing?
