Cannot make it past main menu since yesterday... VPN is a band-aid fix.
Hey there! I am having an issue with Bungie game Marathon specifically on my PC. The issue started yesterday, and is ongoing today. When I make an attempt to log in to the servers it does not let me past the main menu, leaving error code W:8:00002EE2 most of the time, however on occasion I make it past the first "signing in" in the bottom right to then be met with code "centipede" before failing to make it to the menu. I have done extensive troubleshooting including:
Power cycling starlink 3 times
Power cycling starlink router/dish seperately through the app
Power cycling my PC
Factory reset starlink
Used the 2.4 and 5ghtz network on seperate attempts
Uninstalled and re installed the game
Verified the integrity of my game files on steam
Run several commands in my CMD prompt on my PC including "ipconfig /flushdns" and about 7 others
Changed network settings on PC to use Google DNS instead of default in both IPv4 and v6
Disabled IPv6 all together
Using ethernet instead of wifi
Using my wifi adapted in a different USB port
Enabled exceptions for marathon through firewall/antivirus
The issue is also on my partners PC as we both play this game My friends who are on other networks do not have this issue.
I have found a work around which involves using a VPN to route traffic through a different source when logging in which seems to fix the issue, the problem being I do not want to play only on a VPN.
I have not been doing this steps at the same time, for example, my IPv6 was enabled when I was trying other fixes, so this eliminates my troubleshooting causing further issues.
Platform: Steam
ISP: Starlink
