Request for Linux/SteamOS support – Supporting the Developers and the Future of Marathon
Dear Marathon Development Team,
First and foremost, I want to express my genuine appreciation for your hard work and dedication. The talent and craftsmanship poured into this project are evident, and as a player, I deeply value the effort you are putting into creating this experience. You are not the issue; you are the reason I am writing this today.
I am writing to formally request native Linux/SteamOS support for Marathon.
As Windows becomes increasingly restrictive and moves toward a direction that complicates user privacy and control, I am transitioning my gaming ecosystem entirely to Linux. Marathon is the last major title I am genuinely excited about, and it would be a tragedy for me to be unable to play it because of platform limitations. I have made a personal commitment to only support games that offer Linux compatibility, and I would love for Marathon to be among them.
To the Management at Bungie: I am urging you to empower your development team by providing them with the necessary resources and time to implement Linux support (including easy-to-enable anti-cheat compatibility for Proton/SteamOS). Please listen to your community and, more importantly, listen to your developers—they know what is needed to make this game accessible to everyone.
Don't let the technical choices of today limit the reach and longevity of what is clearly a high-quality product.
Thank you for your time and for the incredible work you are doing. I sincerely hope to see Marathon running natively on Linux/SteamOS at launch.
Kind regards,
