Game entirely unplayable - Severe Input lag (>10 seconds) trying to navigate menus / move/look/etc. in-game

PLATFORM: Steam

SYSTEM INFO:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
  • GPU: SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6000
  • GPU Driver Version: 8.05.04.516
  • OS Version: 25H2 Build 26200.8655
  • ISP Provider/Speed (upload/download) / Connection Type (LAN or wireless): Cox 250Mbps down / 100Mbps up / LAN
  • DxDiag :

ISSUE: Input lag / BattlEye Blocked loading of file: C:Users\...\AppData\Local\ScreenPal-v3\SOMNative-x64-3.0.70.dll

REPRO STEPS:  Step-by-step instruction list on how to reproduce this bug, try to be as succinct as possible:

  1. Launch Marathon From Steam
  2. Game has severe input lag and non-responsiveness (mouse/keyboard/controller etc.) upon clicking, typing, or interacting with any menus. Takes 5-30 seconds before input registers. There is a separate pop-up window that says: Blocked loading of file: C:Users\...\AppData\Local\ScreenPal-v3\SOMNative-x64-3.0.70.dll
  3. If possible, try to start a run. The same input lag is observed. Not possible to do anything while in-game.

ACTUAL RESULT: Input lag / lack of responsiveness

EXPECTED RESULT: Acceptable input lack / providing input allows navigation through menus.

LINKS: N/A

NOTES: A similar bug occured during launch of the game (specifically during the Server Slam).

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the report.

Based on what you shared, this appears to have been caused by a conflict between BattlEye and ScreenPal, which was blocking one of ScreenPal’s files.

For now, the recommended workaround is to fully close or uninstall ScreenPal before launching the game

If the issue happens again with ScreenPal removed, please share a fresh DxDiag and let us know what other background apps were running when the problem occurred.

  • Issue resolved by uninstalling "ScreenPal-v3". Uknown if there is a workaround for using this application. I don't need it, so I uninstalled it.
