Appeal for Steam Profile Tag Clearance (Marathon Ban - Account Hijack)
Hello Bungie Support Team and Community Managers,
I am writing to request a manual review regarding a game ban on my Steam account for Marathon. I want to state clearly and upfront: I am not asking to be unbanned so that I can play Marathon again. I have no intention of playing the game moving forward.
My sole goal with this post is to request that Bungie clears the game ban record from the Steam API to restore the standing of my 16-year-old Steam profile. I have maintained a completely clean record on Steam for nearly two decades, and it is devastating to have it permanently stained by a malicious actor.
What Happened:
On 24.08.2026, my system was compromised, leading to a coordinated hijacking of both my Steam account and my personal Discord account. During the window of time that the malicious third party had control of my login, they violated the Code of Conduct on Marathon, which resulted in a game ban. I have since successfully recovered and secured both my Steam and Discord accounts.
I submitted an official Ban Appeal Form over 40 days ago. I noticed it has recently been marked as "Resolved" with no further information or contact, which I understand per your policy means the appeal for game access has been denied.
My Request:
I completely respect Bungie's strict "your account, your responsibility" security enforcement policy regarding live matchmaking access. However, because the punishment leaves a permanent red stain publicly visible on my 16-year legacy Steam profile, the consequence impacts me far outside of Marathon itself.
Since I do not want access to the game restored, I am humbly asking if a Community Manager or Security Team member could issue a manual exception to revoke/clear the ban record via Steam's backend API purely for profile clean-up purposes, while keeping my account barred from the Marathon servers if necessary.

Thank you for reaching out. Help Forums cannot provide insight or assistance for bans and restrictions. If you've already submitted an appeal via our Ban Appeal form, then you have done all you can, and will need to wait for our Security Team to review your appeal.
Please note that we do not provide reasons for why an account was banned or restricted. This form is strictly for appealing bans/restrictions and does not guarantee we will uplift a ban. If several weeks pass with no reply, you can safely assume your ban will remain in place.
