Still have not received game

Hello,

I'm hoping someone from Bungie can take another look at my account or escalate this to the appropriate team.

I purchased Marathon Deluxe Edition on June 3, well before the disclaimer was added to the PlayStation Store listing. My receipt clearly shows that I purchased Marathon Deluxe Edition.

Since my last post, I have contacted PlayStation Support multiple times. During one of those conversations, they provided me with the following statement:

"We would like to make this right, and we have provided all players who took interest in Marathon during the Open Play Week and spent their hard earned money to purchase the Deluxe Edition with the base game at no cost. You will be able to find the base game delivered to your PlayStation account library for immediate download."

Unfortunately, I still do not have access to the base game.

When I followed up with PlayStation, they indicated that this was a message they received from Bungie/Marathon and that they are not able to directly add the game to my account themselves.

At this point, I'm concerned that my account, along with many others, may have simply been overlooked during the process of granting access. I've seen multiple reports from players who purchased before the disclaimer was added and are still waiting.

I have already submitted the support form I was directed to complete, contacted PlayStation Support, posted here on the forums, and provided proof of purchase.

Can someone please review my account or escalate this to a team that can investigate affected accounts that still have not received the base game?

Any help or update would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • They don’t care about us. I too did the form. I’m disappointed that I’m not playing right now but I feel like a chump having to pay $54 when I would’ve bought it on sale for $28.

  • Yeah it's wild that it's taking this long. Their announcement was over 2 weeks ago, and I haven't been able to play the game in the last 10 days.  At this point, it's starting to look like it's not even going to happen. Even though PS support is telling me I'm eligible to receive the game at no additional cost, actually getting it in my library is another story.

I regret buying the Deluxe edition, and wish I had instead bought the standard version for $27. I really don't care at all for the Deluxe skins, I only chose that version because it appeared to be the better deal. And now, I've spent way too much of my time and effort trying to get this worked out. Even if I do end up getting the game at no additional cost, it will still be a loss for me.

I refuse to pay full price for the game, when I could and would have bought it on sale. The only reason I didn't buy the game when it was on sale still is because Marathon Dev Team announced that I'd be getting the game at no additional cost due to their pricing error.

Their initial announcement earned them some good PR, but they haven't actually followed through on what they claimed they would do. The worst part is just being completely ignored.

I did just see an article a bit ago about this situation though. So maybe if it blows up more and causes some backlash they will feel like this issue is worth fixing.

It's been an awful experience though, and it's unfortunate. I really just wish I was able to play the game, but I'm not buying it at full retail price, especially when it's essentially owed to me.

  • I feel the same way as you. I would have bought the standard edition at sale price if they didn't make this mistake.

At the end of the day I can afford to pay the $40, but I refuse to do it on principle. They are treating us like we tried to scam them when either Bungie or PlayStation Store messed up.

The fact that they continue to ignore us makes me not want to deal with Bungie moving forward. How do they not have a better way to handle customer support? It's absurd. They probably don't care that they are losing a few customers, but it also sounds like this game can use all the help it can get.

I'm going to make a final call to PlayStation next week since they told me on my last call that Bungie should be sending download codes out soon. I don't expect anything to happen, but I might as well try one more time and see if I can at least force PlayStation's hand to compensate me in some capacity.

  • Yeah exactly! It's not so much about the money as the principal at this point. I was prepared to buy it when it was on sale. But why would I now pay full price when they promised that I'd be getting it for free. I feel that Sony is also just as culpable in this situation, but they are passing all of the blame and responsibility to correct things onto Bungie. I mean we purchased a product from the Playstations store, did not receive the product, and now they have changed the product we originally purchased to a completely different one. Sony should be willing to just make things right, and then they can deal with Bungie on the backend however they need to.

The customer service from both Bungie and Sony has been atrocious though. This really couldn't have been handled any worse.

It seems like they have issued the game to a small number of people, from what I've seen people who purchased on June 2nd. But everyone else is still waiting. Everyone who purchased on June 3rd, and most of June 4th should also be receiving the game.

It wouldn't be so bad if they would just issue a statement to update us. But it's been over 2 weeks of silence, which makes me think they are just trying to lay low and let this blow over.

I just really want to get back into the game, but as more time passes by, the more I'm starting to feel just over it. Missing 10+ days already puts us at a pretty big disadvantage in a season that only lasts a few months.

They likely don't care about the couple dozen players that have been posting here about not receiving the game, but yeah, the game looks like it could use the help. There are reports that about 50% of Bungies workforce is going to be laid off in the coming months though, so maybe they really just don't care and are throwing in the towel.

I'm also going to be calling PS support on Monday or Tuesday and give this one more shot. I've only chatted with support so far, and they all have told me Bungie has said that all affected players have received the game, or that it will be added to my library. But as soon as I ask for some more info, they just disconnect me. So I'm hoping that someone on the phone can be a little more helpful and get this figured out.

I wish you all the best of luck as well! If I have any success or find anything new out, I'll be sure to post here. And it would be cool if you're willing to do the same.
