One-time XBox account delinking from bungie account for my son

I gave my son my steam account years ago (i stopped playing video games) but at some point I had linked my Xbox, PlayStation, and epic games accounts to my steam account. Apparently you can’t unlink these things as of March of last year, but I never saw a notification about this change coming, so I didn't fix the fact that all my accounts were linked to bungie instead of his accounts. He just downloaded Marathon on steam but it’s auto-playing it under my Xbox account because bungie has everything linked. He wants to be able to play under his own xbox account, but I don't know how to fix it and it's extremely frustrating for him. He just spend his allowance to buy the delux version and is frustrated that he can't play it under his own xbox account. Is there a way to someone can PLEASE unlink the xbox and playstation accounts tied to my bungie account so He can link his OWN accounts? Otherwise, he just wasted a TON of money...

    Hello there,
    Thanks for explaining the situation.

Based on the current account-linking rules, game platform accounts like Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic can only be linked to one Bungie.net account, and once a platform account is linked, it cannot be unlinked or transferred to a different Bungie.net profile.

That also means Support would not be able to manually remove the Xbox or PlayStation accounts from the Bungie.net account tied to that Steam profile. Current internal guidance is explicit that users cannot unlink game platform accounts through Settings, and platform linking is treated as permanent.

For Marathon specifically, there is only one save per Bungie account, shared across all connected platforms. So if the Steam account is already linked to your Bungie.net account, launching Marathon on that Steam account will continue to access that existing Bungie account and its connected platform identities.

So unfortunately, there is not a support-side path to detach those linked console accounts and reconnect your son’s Xbox account to that same Steam account. Under the current system, the linked Steam account will continue to sign into the Bungie account it is already attached to.

If the purchase was made on Steam and you do not want to keep using it on that linked account, the only refund path would be through Steam Support, since platform purchase refunds have to be handled by the storefront where the purchase was made. Bungie Support would not be able to override or manually process a Steam refund from this side.
