Cross play friends don't show up

I have a weird bug that has my Cross-Play friends not showing up on my list when they are online even though we are friends. I have there bungie Accounts added and linked it for Destiny 2. They don't show up for me on Destiny 2 as well I have to add them through my clan list.  Would love some insite as to what could be causing this issue if its on our end or not...
