Persistent Issue with Ambient Audio

Bungie Account Name - No idea

Platform - Steam

Description of Issue - Ambient audio, presumably the tracks you're playing to make it difficult to clearly hear things when you're indoors (which is a stupidly implemented and immersion breaking anyway), becomes so loud and persistent that its often impossible to actually hear anything. Frequently this will be paired with me not being able to hear gunshots from players so I assume its a broader issue.

Rough Date and Time of issue - For pretty much the last three weeks, perhaps sometimes prior to that but I've only started paying attention to it recently.

Repro steps - Select Outpost, play Outpost.

I have a few screen recordings that capture audio to demonstrate the issue, however this help portal inexplicably doesn't allow you to upload video files. I don't use youtube etc. and I presume if you have issues with google drive etc. you'd just be unable to download anything from an FTP.

  • Hello there,

Thank you very much for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear that you are having audio issues in the game. If you haven't already, we'd recommend double checking that all of your drivers and Windows are up to date, to see if the issue persists. If so, we'd also recommend trying to verify the game file integrity through Steam.

If the issue persists, to help us further investigate, can you provide us with the screen recordings you've taken of the issue? If YouTube is not an option, you can use one of these other media-sharing websites:

  • It'd be real swell if you guys could accept uploads here.

I've noticed that the behaviour seems to relate to the ambient audio noise that is used when the UESC security breach is in progress, it seems that if I either leave a PoI where that audio is play before it finishes or if I am eliminated during the UESC security breach and return to the lobby that the noise then persists until I restart the game.

  • This behaviour still occurs after todays update.

Doing further testing I have determined that doing an alt+F4 and then reconnecting resolves it. Even if this were intended behaviour for ambient audio played as part of the UESC Security Breach event on Outpost to persist between games and be permanently enabled such that it makes impossible to hear things in any PoIs on the map I think it stopping when you restart the game would also count as a bug no?

Once again I have screen recordings of this behaviour and I would be _happy_ to upload them here, on the support forums for the video game Marathon.
