PlayStation 5 proximity chat not working
I’m on PS five and I’m using a good mic. I have the mic turned on all the time, and I just pressed the mute and unmute mic button on the PlayStation side and my teammates can hear me but no one else in the game can hear me they just act like I’m not talking every single time. I checked all the settings. I did everything I could. It’s always showing it as on proximity.

On PlayStation 5, there are a few things that can cause exactly what you’re describing (crew can hear you, but no one else ever responds).
Please try these steps in order:
Use the Proximity Chat button (Push-to-Talk)
Proximity chat is push-to-talk only. Even if your mic is “always on,” other players only hear you in proximity chat while you’re holding the Proximity Chat button.
In the game’s Settings > Audio/Voice menu:
Make sure Proximity Chat is Enabled.
Check which button is bound to Proximity Chat.
In a match, make sure you hold that button down while talking.
Leave any PlayStation Party and switch to Game Chat
If you’re in a PS5 Party voice chat, your voice can be routed only to the party, not to in‑game proximity chat.
Please:
Leave any active PlayStation Party.
In the PS5 Control Center > Game Base > Voice Chat, confirm you’re using Game Chat.
Relaunch the game and test again.
Check PS5 privacy settings for voice with non‑friends
If your PSN privacy only allows communication with friends, other players in the match may never hear you.
On PS5, go to:
Settings > Users and Accounts > Privacy > View and Customize Your Privacy Settings
Under communication/voice options, set anything like:
“You can communicate with players” or similar
to allow communication with Anyone, not just Friends.
Fully close and restart the game after changing this.
Confirm your mic and audio devices on PS5
On PS5:
Settings > Sound > Microphone
Input Device: confirm the right mic is selected (controller, headset, etc.).
Input Volume: slide it up so your voice is being picked up clearly.
Settings > Sound > Audio Output
Make sure the correct speakers/headset are selected and not muted.
In the game’s settings (if available), check that Voice Chat Input Device and Audio Output Device are set and not blank.
Make sure you’re testing proximity chat where it actually works
Proximity chat only works:
In a run, not in every menu or lobby screen.
When you are close enough in‑game to another player.
With players who also have Proximity Chat enabled.
To test:
Join a match with a friend on an opposing crew.
Both of you enable Proximity Chat in settings.
Stand near each other in‑game.
Both hold your Proximity Chat buttons and speak.
